1. Who we are

LocalSeat Technologies Inc. ("LocalSeat", "we", "us") operates the LocalSeat platform at app.localseat.io — a campaign management and canvassing tool built for Canadian municipal elections. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the platform and to the marketing website at localseat.io.

2. What information we collect

Account and campaign users

When you register for LocalSeat, we collect:

• Your name and email address
• Your password (stored as a secure hash — never in plain text)
• Your role within your campaign
• The date and time you accepted our Terms of Service
• Email verification status and token

Campaign data

Campaign managers and authorised team members may import or enter:

• Voter and resident records (names, addresses, phone numbers, household information)
• Canvass responses (support level, sign requests, volunteer interest, notes)
• Follow-up tasks and outreach logs
• Donor prospect records
• Tags, notes, and activity history attached to constituent records

This campaign data is entered by your team and belongs to your campaign. LocalSeat stores it on your behalf.

Usage and technical data

• Login times and IP addresses (for security and audit purposes)
• Actions taken within the platform (audit log — used for accountability within your campaign team)
• Browser and device type (for compatibility purposes)

Demo site

If you register on the LocalSeat demo site at demo.localseat.io, we collect your name, email address, phone number, municipality, the office you are seeking, and your consent to be contacted. This information is used by the LocalSeat team to follow up with you about the platform.

3. How we use your information

• To operate and deliver the LocalSeat platform to your campaign
• To send account-related emails (verification, password reset, approval notifications)
• To enforce your campaign's role-based access controls
• To maintain audit logs for campaign accountability
• To contact demo registrants about the LocalSeat platform
• To improve the platform using aggregated, de-identified usage patterns

We do not use personal data for advertising. We do not build profiles for third-party marketing. We do not sell any data.

4. Campaign data and constituent privacy

Constituent data — voter names, addresses, contact details, and canvass results — is entered by your campaign team and used solely to operate your campaign within LocalSeat. LocalSeat does not share this data with other campaigns, third parties, political parties, or advertisers.

Post-campaign data retention

LocalSeat retains campaign data indefinitely after a campaign concludes. This is intentional — municipal candidates often return for future elections and may need access to their historical voter contact data, supporter lists, and canvass results. Your data remains available to you whenever you return to the platform.

If you wish to have your campaign data permanently deleted, you may request this at any time by contacting us at info@localseat.io. We will confirm deletion within 30 days of receiving your request.

Constituent notifications and deletion rights

If a constituent contacts your campaign requesting to know what information is held about them, or requests deletion of their record, campaign managers are responsible for fulfilling those requests within LocalSeat. If a constituent contacts LocalSeat directly, we will assist in coordinating with the relevant campaign.

Platform improvement

LocalSeat may analyse aggregated, de-identified patterns across the platform (such as feature usage frequency) to improve the product. This analysis does not identify individual users or constituents. We do not use constituent data for predictive modelling or resale under any circumstances.

5. Data storage and security

LocalSeat stores all data on servers located in Canada on a dedicated Virtual Private Server (VPS). We implement the following security measures:

• All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via TLS (HTTPS)
• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
• Database access is restricted — the PostgreSQL port is not publicly accessible
• Role-based access controls ensure campaign data is only accessible to authorised team members
• An audit log records all significant actions within the platform
• Login attempts are rate-limited to prevent brute-force attacks
• Email verification is encouraged for all new accounts

No system is perfectly secure. If you become aware of a security concern, please contact us immediately at info@localseat.io.

6. Cookies and tracking

LocalSeat uses session cookies to keep you logged in to the platform. We do not use advertising cookies. We do not use third-party tracking pixels. We do not use Google Analytics or similar services on the app platform.

The marketing website at localseat.io uses Google Fonts, which may set a cookie. No behavioural tracking is in place on the marketing site.

7. Third-party services

LocalSeat uses a small number of third-party services to operate the platform:

• Hostinger — VPS hosting provider. Your data is stored on servers we control on Hostinger infrastructure.
• Nodemailer / Hostinger SMTP — used to send transactional emails (verification, password reset, approvals). Email content is not stored by the mail provider beyond delivery.
• Stripe — used for payment processing when you purchase a plan. LocalSeat does not store your payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.

We do not share personal data with any other third parties.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information LocalSeat holds about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your campaign data at any time using the CSV export features within the platform
• Withdraw consent for optional data uses

9. Children's privacy

LocalSeat is a professional campaign tool intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
